NATIONAL GARDEN SCHEME: Hampshire Newsletter for June
Despite the weather being decidedly chilly our garden is still racing ahead with many plants being at least a couple of weeks early. Shame the same can’t be said for the lawn. After last summer’s drought it was looking rather sad - then the moss really came into its own. Now we have eliminated the moss - well you can imagine. Hopefully nothing a bit of grass seed can’t cure - I’m sure. Now that the snowdrops, spring bulbs and bluebells have been and gone, we’ve got June to look forward to. June is a very the busy month for our fantastic Garden Owners and Visitors, so without further ado here are some of the Hampshire gardens, which are open.

As you wander through the garden you can enjoy chilled Provence rosé wine served from magnums and a selection of delicious canapes. The garden at Hazelby is one of the most distinguished in the region. It was originally created by Martin Lane-Fox who lived here in the 1980s and 1990’s. He created the classically formal structure and planting which the Hungerfords have built on in, opening the garden up to a new lake and adding a range of superb ornaments including works by David Harber and William Pye. A highlight of the evening will be the live auction handled by the legendary auctioneer Nick Bonham. There are exclusive lots including a private visit to the garden of renowned designer Tom Stewart- Smith, and a Grand Tier box for 12 at the Last Night of the Proms, as well as a host of other fabulous silent auction lots.
