From: Susan Corr < susancorr@rhs.org.uk > Subject: RHS Affiliated Societies Spring 2021 Newsletter Hello All
Welcome to our 2021 Spring newsletter Now we can see light at the end of that very dark tunnel and our spring bulbs are beginning to break through, life is definitely looking a lot brighter! I have really enjoyed reading how creative you have all been and how most clubs are now embracing Zoom (who had even heard of it a year ago?!). A huge thank you to all our clubs who paid by Direct Debit or payment card it made a huge difference to our team working in central London allowing more of them to work safely from home. Sadly our plans for an online portal have been postponed for another year, but we will get there! Can you help? - The RHS has always prided itself on our top quality judges, but over the years, as judges have left, we have not replaced them at the same rate and now looking forward we are keen to find new floral and or horticultural judges for our shows. If you, or anyone you know are interested in applying for training to become an RHS Judge please email affiliated@rhs.org.uk with your details and I will pass them on to our Judges team. Attached is the list of on-line speakers I put together early last summer, but now with a few extras from our lovely RHS Partner Gardens, many of which have either on-line events or You Tube videos to share with your colleagues. Distance is no barrier with on-line talks dip in to talks from all over the UK and overseas too you could even spend the afternoon on Barbados! Do have a look through and see if there is anything you might find of interest. You can also follow the link here to the RHS Partner Garden page and check out what they are offering plus find information on our RHS Partner Garden of the Year competition which launches in March with the theme of ‘Feel Good Gardens’. Don’t miss your chance to celebrate these fantastic places and their power to lift our spirits. We are looking at ideas to connect with you all over the coming year, so look out for invitations to join us on-line for various events and more. Also attached is a copy of the latest Information Pack which will answer most questions about affiliation. Each year we update the contents so please make sure you are referring to the latest version. The Stationery Leaflet attached will help your club should you wish to purchase medals, stationery or the Horticultural Show Handbook. As we continue to process the renewals we are also getting together the data to update the community map. This should be complete by the end of March and will help to encourage potential new members to contact you to find out more about what your club has to offer. And finally if you or your colleagues fancy joining the RHS you can use this special promotion: Join today and enjoy 12 months for the price of 9*Visit rhs.org.uk/join/4004 *Introductory offer by annual Direct Debit. Terms and conditions apply. As you are the RHS contact for your club please can you pass on to your members the information on becoming an RHS Judge, on-line speakers and the link to our Partner Garden page and to join the RHS. Enjoy your gardens and stay safe, All the best Susie & Janice S usie Corr Affiliated Societies & Partner Gardens Royal Horticultural Society RHS Garden Wisley, Woking, Surrey GU23 6QB affiliated@rhs.org.uk 07702 102 578 rhs.org.uk
